Butter Cookies

Ingredients
3 sticks unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 cups flour
Preheat oven at 350 degrees. Prepare the cookie dough by using a kitchen stand mixer. Whip butter and sugar on medium for a minimum of 2 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add in vanilla or other flavoring and salt and mix well. Beat in eggs until incorporated. Add in flour in small amounts until combined. Divide the dough into three, wrap in parchment paper, and refrigerate for 2 hours. The dough can keep for 1 week. Roll dough with powdered sugar and cut. Bake 8-10 minutes, until lightly golden brown. Decorate with royal icing and food coloring.
